VICTORY OVER FEAR WITH GOD
I was surprised and actually a little shocked to see the abject fear in the face shown on the news of this young woman who believes the Earth is going to end in 10 years because of global warming. Whether you believe global warming is a problem or not, this kind of fear in people is a bigger problem. Young people even little children are living in fear today. Fear seems to be the number one controlling factor for the population these days. Well, what does the Bible say about fear? Generally speaking, believers are not to be fearful! God told Joshua, when he was supposed to take over the leadership for Moses, to be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; (or do not have crippling, cringing, fainting fear), do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. God tells him to keep the Word of God with him, and even in his mouth and meditate on it day and night.
That is the formula to fight fear. God gave us the emotions of fear and anger to motivate us to cautious actions through faith in God, not to cripple us, or destroy us, and others, or keep us from moving forward. I’ve known people who say they can’t make a decision on anything because they are afraid of anything in life, because it may have an unknown factor, or may have a scary factor. This is not the life of faith that God wants for you and me. In the book of Romans chapter 8 we read that God is our Father and the Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now, if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. And in 2Timothy 1:7 the Bible tells us, for the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid but gives us power, love and self-discipline. Memorize this verse and remind yourself of it when you are fearful. The emotions of fear and anger are to move us to action not in-action. We are to face our fears and anger. The Bible says be angry, but don’t sin. I pray that you will be a person of faith and action not fear and anger.
